Meet Grain.

Grain is a healthy food delivery startup known for chef-made weekly menus, smart calorie targets, and corporate catering. Offline word-of-mouth was strong; online, the site needed to win “hungry-now” micro-moments what’s today’s menu, is this in my delivery zone, how many calories, can my team order together? before aggregators or listicles stole the click.

The initial challenge.

Most organic sessions landed on a few generic pages while discovery terms around healthy lunch, calorie-counted meals, vegetarian/halal options, and office catering were dominated by publishers and delivery marketplaces. Titles and headings leaned brand-forward rather than query-aligned; heavy hero assets and third-party scripts slowed first paint on mobile the second diners decide to bounce or stay.

Benefits Of SEO

Delivery-zone and outlet pages varied in depth and schema coverage, so map-pack and “near me” visibility wobbled. Menu content mixed weekly drops with evergreen favourites without a predictable pattern; dietary flags, allergens, and macros were inconsistent across items. Measurement focused on sessions and time-on-page rather than the actions that drive revenue: check zone, view menu, apply dietary filters, add to cart, start checkout, and corporate enquiry. Net result: strong brand demand, too many detours, and an unclear line from search to orders or catering leads.

Our solutions.

We rebuilt the foundation for relevance, speed, and locality. Technical cleanup came first: query-aligned titles/H1s on menu and category pages; clarified H2/H3 hierarchies; compressed imagery; deferred non-critical scripts; and stabilised containers to tame CLS, especially on mobile. Information architecture now mirrors real decisions Menu → Diet Filters → Weekly Specials → Delivery Zones → Order with internal links routing authority from editorial to money pages (menu, bundles, zones, and catering). For locality, we templated each delivery zone/outlet page like a mini microsite: consistent NAP, hours, delivery windows, fee thresholds, embedded map, landmark/estate cues, and LocalBusiness/ServiceArea schema so each zone ranks and converts independently.

We launched a snackable content hub that answers real searches in plain language: calorie and macro explainers, vegetarian/halal and allergen guides, “how weekly drops work,” reheating tips, and sustainability/packaging stories each piece linking purposefully back to menu categories, bundles, zones, and corporate catering. Structured data (Organization, Product/MenuItem, FAQ, BreadcrumbList) sits across templates to widen SERP footprint and earn richer snippets.

Measurement moved from vanity to intent signals. In GA4, we instrumented Check delivery zone, View menu, Filter applied, Add to cart, Begin checkout, Order click-out (if applicable), Newsletter/Catering enquiry, with UTM discipline across ads, socials, and CRM. A lightweight dashboard now shows how discovery articles feed menu views and zone checks, which filters correlate to higher AOV, and which geos/time windows convert so budgets and content lean into proven micro-moments.

Impact.

Mobile pages load quickly and surface what matters first today’s dishes, calories, dietary flags, and zone eligibility reducing bounce and shortening the path to order. Zone pages appear more consistently for “near me,” editorial guides create new entry points during weekly drops, and internal links funnel that interest into carts or catering forms.

Reporting finally traces a straight line from search to outcomes the business cares about: more menu interactions, more qualified checkouts, and steadier corporate enquiries especially at lunch peaks when healthy cravings convert in seconds.
